The Assistant Planner manages inventory control and packaging required for the production processes and ensures that the resources required to make products are in stock and available.
Works within the business cost, quantity, and quality constraints to plan the flow of supplies.
Works with the Purchasing department to procure materials and with the Production Planner to maintain the production schedule.
The position involves visiting vendor sites from time to time.
Supplier constraints can affect working capital.
Activities and Key Responsibilities include:
- Ordering of Packaging: Local Supply
Requisition resources (local sourced packaging through the purchasing department) and monitor scheduled deliveries from vendors to ensure smooth production. - Expedites materials from vendors when there are delays in delivery.
- Manage stock levels for all local packaging supplies.
- Supply FC to suppliers for all local packing.
- Working Capital Management
Conduct monthly stock counts and reconciliation as per Total's business rules.
Continuously manage and reduce working capital by optimizing the MRP tool without compromising customer service.
Submit monthly forecasts on all local and packaging supplies to suppliers. - HSEQ
Ensure all LMP purchases conform to ISSSR's requirements (Elements 12).
Ensure all NCRs raised by the Quality Manager are completed and submitted to Total.
Report all near misses, incidents, unsafe acts, and conditions. - Governance
Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management for the area of responsibility. - Additional
Assist with the management of suppliers.
Candidate Profile
As an Inbound Planner, you should possess:
- Diploma in Purchasing and Materials Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years in procurement or materials planning within the oil industry.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with ownership of issues and determination to follow through.
- Good business acumen.
- Negotiation and supervisory skills, proven team player, capable of prioritizing in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of MRP and production lead-time.
- Experience with ERP manufacturing systems (MPS / MRP / BOMs / Routing).
- SAP experience is advantageous.
- Good communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- High levels of analytical thinking and ability to work under pressure.
- Knowledge of ONE MAESTRO, ISO, and logistics functions.
