About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the technology sector, is actively seeking an experienced and proactive In-House Legal Advisor to join their legal department situated in the vibrant economic center of Centurion, Gauteng . This role is crucial for providing comprehensive legal support and strategic counsel across various business units. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide array of legal activities, including contract management, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including software licenses, service agreements, and vendor contracts.
• Advise business teams on legal implications of commercial decisions and strategic initiatives.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation, working with external counsel as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including data protection (POPIA) and consumer law.
• Support corporate governance activities, including board meetings and statutory filings.
• Conduct legal research and provide clear, actionable advice on complex legal issues.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
• Manage intellectual property portfolios and advise on related matters.
• Liaise with external legal counsel and service providers.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years post-admission experience.
• Proven experience in corporate and commercial law, preferably with in-house experience in the technology sector.
• Strong understanding of contract law, intellectual property, and data privacy regulations.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
• Ability to provide practical and business-oriented legal advice.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in legal research and standard office productivity software.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
