Position Summary

The Project Engineer (Onshore) will be part of a team for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) based project engineering activities in support of oil & gas and renewables projects performed with Oceaneering’s Offshore Projects Group (OPG).

Typical work scopes will include but not be limited to installation, light construction, decommissioning, diving, well or flowline.

The Project Engineer (Onshore) will report functionally to the Project Engineering Manager and day to day to project managers as needed.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Carries out tasks as assigned by the Project Engineering Manager or by the project organizations you are assigned to. Tasks will be focused on technical issues but can also include administrative and project management functions.
  • Work closely with Project Manager(s) to ensure all project objectives, schedule, deliverables, and milestones are met and carry out work which may include:
  • Performance management of suppliers and/or sub-contractors
  • Preparation of procedures, task plans, Lift Plans, and review of drawings and engineering deliverables.
  • Preparation of project or technical reports as required by management, clients or other stakeholders.
  • Provision of input to cost estimates, schedule development, manpower requirements and the like.
  • Support pre and post testing of equipment, as well as repair and maintenance with the help of other support functions.
  • Plan and manage mob/demob of equipment, Rigging, and Installation Aids according to project requirements.
  • Supporting the Project manager with vendor selection, create Scope of work for Subcontractors for Project required scopes as needed.
  • Travel offshore and perform day to day management of project activities
  • Close-out/As-built report at the end of the project
  • Creates/Authors or reviews installation procedures and specifications for compliance with engineering principles, applicable standards, and Client requirements.
  • Approves design changes, specifications, schematics, and test plans for installation equipment and subsea hardware. This may include locating equipment and assisting with vendor selection.
  • Approves engineering calculations and analysis performed by the Engineering Team.
  • Applies where applicable common industry codes such as ASME, AISC, DNV, API, ABS and AWS.
  • Approves product designs, conducts and attends Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and System Integration Tests (SIT).
  • Approves Basis of Design, Basis of Analysis, technical analysis reports or other supporting documents for equipment designed and analyzed by SSR & OPG Engineering.
  • Prepares and maintain Action Item/Interface Registers and Master Document Registers.
  • Interfaces with Document Control, Design Analysts and Design/Drafters during the course of project work.
  • Interfaces with project team members and Clients through meetings and other means of communication.
  • Leads HazIDs, Readiness Reviews, Peer Reviews and Design Reviews associated with project planning to identify and mitigate project specific risk.
  • Performs non-engineering activities such as oversight of offshore operations and on-site oversight of OPG projects and subcontractors.
  • Develops and maintains project engineering deliverables schedule by studying project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project deliverables.
  • Leads all technical aspects of project planning, interfacing directly with the Project Manager and Client.
  • Perform oversight of offshore operations and on-site oversight of OPG projects and subcontractors as required in a project role.
  • Sporadic Work and travel in EMEA, both onshore and offshore.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Structural, Mechanical, Civil or Ocean Engineering)
  • Preferably 5 or more years' relevant experience from the subsea industry.
  • Knowledge of MathCAD, 3D CAD, 2D AutoCAD.
  • Ability to travel internationally for work scopes.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Must be able to obtain:
    • Seamen’s book
    • Petroleum Education Council (PEC) Basic Training
    • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)

DESIRED

  • Experience in working offshore on subsea installations or IMR projects, both using ROV’s and diving.
  • Prior experience working Internationally.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and change management


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebra, trigonometry, analytical geometry, calculus, probability, and statistics.
  • Ability to apply these concepts to engineering applications including but not limited to statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, strength of materials, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural design, mechanical design, and electrical design.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ensures that essential information from management is shared with employees and others as appropriate.
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback.
  • Ensures that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans.
  • Ensures that regular consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility.

Working Conditions

This position is considered 100% OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
  • Work locations could include onshore base/Client locations as well as working from home.
