Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Contract Manager in Cape Town, South Africa, to govern contracts post‑execution, ensure legal compliance, and manage lifecycle activities across regions and categories. The role leads contract governance standards and playbooks for IMEA.

You will collaborate with Operations, Finance, Legal, and Procurement to mitigate risks, optimize value, and drive standardized processes across the region.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in contract management, governance, or in‑house legal/procurement roles.
• Experience in post‑execution contract governance and compliance.
• Strong understanding of procurement, sourcing, P2P, and financial controls.
• Ability to translate legal language into operational requirements.
• Experience within governance frameworks, authority matrices, and audits.
• Strong stakeholder influence across Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain governance for post‑execution contract lifecycle across IMEA.
• Oversee contract interpretation, amendments, renewals, expiries, and formal correspondence.
• Define standards for interpretation, version control, and audit readiness.
• Ensure contracts are applied per approved terms, legal guidance, and regulatory requirements.
• Act as center of expertise on contract obligations, risks, and compliance.
• Establish escalation and resolution mechanisms for contractual issues with In‑House Legal.
