Qualifications

• Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council.
• Extensive knowledge of general and specialized nursing care.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to initiate advanced nursing care and emergency treatment when required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan and implement individualized nursing care for patients and their families.
• Coordinate patient care within the multi-disciplinary health team and act as a patient advocate.
• Perform rounds with physicians to review patient conditions and develop nursing care plans.
• Prepare day/night shift documentation reflecting patient status, staff ratio and problems.
• Participate in policy and procedure development, quality and risk management, and staff education.
