Job summary

Netcare in Cape Town is hiring a Professional Nurse with a post basic qualification to assess, plan and deliver holistic, patient‑centred care within a multidisciplinary team.

The role involves coordinating patient care, conducting rounds with physicians, implementing nursing care plans, and maintaining a safe, clean environment while supporting families and healthcare colleagues in line with Netcare's standards and policies.

Qualifications

• Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council with a post basic qualification.
• Thorough knowledge of general / specialized nursing theory and practice.
• Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices in the ICU.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care in the unit.
• Ensure communication with family and health professionals regarding optimal patient care and act as patient advocate when necessary.
• Coordinate patient care within the multi-disciplinary health team to meet patient needs.
• Initiate, direct and maintain emergency treatment (RESUS) as indicated to any patient / person in any ward / department of the hospital.
• Participate in developing and implementing health care plans and treatment regimes with the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors.
