Job description

Position type : Permanent Full-time (38 hours per week)
Classification : WDNWPT Enterprise Agreement – Administrative Workers Level 6
Program : Business Operations
Location : Alice Springs
Reports to : Technical Services Manager
Role Purpose : The ICT Security & Implementation Lead plays a pivotal role in enabling Purple House's digital transformation by leading ICT project execution, embedding scalable cybersecurity frameworks, and addressing technical debt.

This role ensures our infrastructure, systems, and workflows evolve securely alongside organisational growth, while supporting improved user experience and internal capability development. This position is distinct from operational IT support roles.

While the ICT Security & Implementation Lead collaborates closely with technical delivery staff, their focus remains on governance, strategic project implementation, and security leadership to support scalable organisational growth.

The role ensures that operational implementations are carried out safely and with informed, risk-aware approaches—mentoring those who execute day-to-day tasks and elevating internal technical capability over time.

Key Responsibilities :
  1. Project Implementation & Coordination
Lead the end-to-end implementation of strategic ICT projects including Microsoft E3, SharePoint, Intune, and identity / access management tools.
Support the development of and engage with project plans, timelines, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver secure, timely, and fit-for-purpose ICT solutions.
  2. Cybersecurity Uplift & Governance
Drive organisation-wide security initiatives including MFA, Conditional Access, device hardening, and policy standardisation.
Monitor, maintain, and improve Purple House's cybersecurity posture, laying the foundation for future compliance scopes.
Identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks through continuous monitoring, documentation, and proactive policy development.
  3. Technical Debt & Shadow IT Management
Co-Lead discovery and remediation work to address legacy systems, inefficient workflows, and fragmented practices.
Conduct audits and risk assessments to illuminate Shadow IT usage and propose compliant, user-friendly alternatives.
    Embed IT governance frameworks.
  4. User Experience & Self-Service Enablement
Implement and support digital self-service tools including SSO, self-service password resets, and automated device provisioning.
Collaborate with the Information Services Officer to improve digital literacy and reduce dependency on operational bottlenecks.
  5. Mentorship & Team Development
Act as a technical mentor to the ICT Operations Coordinator, supporting professional growth and succession planning.
Contribute to team documentation, onboarding resources, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  6. Operational Support & Strategic Advice
Provide subject matter technical guidance to the Information Services Manager and contribute to strategic planning.
Assist with vendor engagement, compliance audits, and budget-informed decision-making for ICT initiatives.
Participate in refining policies related to IT asset allocation, access control, and operational service boundaries.
Key Capabilities and Knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering enterprise ICT projects within complex environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite, including Azure AD / Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, and compliance tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (Essential Eight, RFFR, ISO) and contemporary risk mitigation practices.
  • Ability to balance user needs with governance, scalability, and resource constraints.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Capacity to lead, mentor, and embed best practice within a growing team.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in rural, remote, or health-based organisations.
  • Experience in strategic ICT impact analysis or ICT policy development.
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle management, vendor negotiation, and IT budget coordination.

This role description reflects the broad scope and strategic intent of the ICT Security & Implementation Lead position.

Responsibilities may evolve over time to meet the needs of the organisation, with flexibility expected as part of a collaborative, growth-oriented team.
