Job description

We're on the lookout for experienced Hydraulic Millwrights to provide engineering and maintenance services by undertaking installation, maintenance, repair, and modification activities on hydraulic and lubrication equipment and systems of a complex nature.

As a Hydraulic Millwright, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Modifying hydraulic and lubrication systems by configuring new components and installing them to standardize equipment to meet production and engineering requirements.
  2. Collaborating with contractors, vendors, and others to implement and maintain services.
  3. Submitting and obtaining approval for plant modification requests, and filing documentation at the Drawing Office for future reference.
  4. Updating hydraulic schematic drawings used for fault-finding and ensuring the latest revisions are filed.
  5. Commissioning hydraulic and lubrication systems, including making final connections according to standards.
  6. Ensuring systems comply with ISO requirements.
  7. Assisting with investigations, creating or updating drawings, and recommending maintenance plans and procedures.
  8. Performing oil sampling and implementing recommendations based on analysis.
  9. Participating in technical investigations with the MDT team regarding maintenance issues.
  10. Performing standby duties as required.
  11. Utilizing all Sappi's systems (SAP, PS, PM, CO, RCA, Activity Manager) in executing maintenance strategies.
  12. Supporting maintenance efforts and assisting with budget preparation.
  13. Supporting MDT and supervising shutdown implementations.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • NQF4 qualification in Engineering Studies.
  • Recognized Millwright Trade Certificate.
  • Heavy industry experience: 3 to 5 years.
  • At least 3 years of hydraulic system and maintenance experience.
