Placements24 is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Detailer for a contractual role in Bloemfontein, Free State. You will translate steel designs into detailed fabrication and erection drawings using Tekla Structures, generate BOQs and CNC data, and ensure constructability across projects including industrial and commercial facilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as Structural Steel Detailer in construction.
• Proficient with Tekla Structures; Advance Steel experience valuable.
• Understand structural steel fabrication and erection sequences.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specs.
• Detail-oriented with strong communication for design intent clarity.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed fabrication and erection drawings for structural steel components using Tekla Structures or similar software.
• Generate accurate bills of quantities (BOQ) and material lists for procurement.
• Develop CNC data for automated fabrication machinery.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and project managers to clarify design intent.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specs, standards, and client requirements.
• Perform checks and reviews to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate with fabrication shops and erection crews for site queries.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation.
• Keep up with new software features and detailing techniques.
• Contribute to process optimization and task scheduling.
