The Strategist, together with the internal team, works hand-in-hand with the clients' marketing department and creative agency to ensure the development of effective and unique media campaigns.

The strategist immerses themselves within the client's business, gaining an understanding of the client's needs, goals, and the brands' customers, to provide clear and consistent input into the media strategy.

Based on given objectives, the strategist applies their knowledge of media and communication platforms to identify the most appropriate channels for building awareness of a client's brand.

Objectives:
  1. Create strong, compelling, and strategic media recommendations on how different channels can be used to integrate the consumer journey and define the role of media to the consumer.
  2. Strive to deliver media solutions that drive key objectives, ensuring budget efficacy and performance.
  3. Collaborate with the client lead, planning, and implementation teams to develop budget allocations across media scenarios.
  4. Utilize client data and technology architecture to provide strategy solutions.
  5. Understand Mindshare / GroupM trading / proprietary offerings and incorporate these in recommendations where relevant.
  6. Provide insights on emerging media and new opportunities.
  7. Build competitor/brand reviews to ensure strategic actions are executed.
  8. Ensure regular media update presentations to clients, e.g., trends, landscapes, hot topics.
  9. Collaborate across the Strategy Hub for continuous improvement.
  10. Participate in client/vendor initiatives/workshops to incorporate research into media strategies.
  11. Understand the competitive context of brands, including SOV, SOM, pricing, and distribution, beyond quantitative data.
  12. Use agency research and planning tools to set communication/channel objectives, e.g., ARs, GRPs, reach, frequency.

Utilize industry & Mindshare tools/methodology, e.g., threshold analysis for reach curves and buying points.

Coordinate & complete annual plans for all brands within assigned categories.

Collaborate with the implementation team on reporting to deliver insights and optimization recommendations.

Relationship Management:
  • Be the key day-to-day contact for clients and the Account Leadership team.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships at all client levels.
  • Maintain relationships with media partners/vendors to optimize media strategies.
  • Stay informed about the client's organizational structure, planning process, marketing calendar, and stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure client relationships are strengthened through quality deliverables and satisfaction.
  • Work with clients and agency partners to bring campaigns to life, including attending and contributing to meetings.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Marketing/advertising degree with a focus on strategy.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in business consultancy, market research/analytics, or strategic planning, with at least 3 years in media/communications planning.
  • Experience in media agency environment and media planning knowledge.
  • Proven experience working with multiple stakeholders, including suppliers, agencies, and media owners.
  • Experience in campaign implementation and reporting is beneficial.
  • Understanding of business principles, financial and commercial issues.
