Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Primary School Literacy Coordinator in George to champion literacy across all primary grades. You will develop and implement literacy programs, support teachers, and ensure students achieve reading and writing foundational skills, contributing to academic excellence.

The role emphasizes curriculum development, data-informed decisions, and collaboration with staff, parents, and leadership to foster a love of reading and language in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Recognized teaching qualification with a specialization in Early Childhood Development (ECD) or Foundation Phase.
• Minimum 4 years of teaching experience with at least 2 years focused on literacy instruction in primary schools.
• Experience in curriculum development and literacy interventions.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret assessment data and inform instruction.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive literacy strategies for Foundation and Intermediate Phase learners.
• Provide professional development and ongoing support to teachers in literacy instruction techniques.
• Monitor student literacy progress through diagnostic assessments and data analysis.
• Curate and recommend literacy resources, books, digital tools, and teaching materials.
• Collaborate with school leadership and parents to promote literacy initiatives.
• Lead literacy-focused workshops and parent information sessions.
