Placements24 is seeking a proactive Mechanical Engineer in Mahikeng, North West, to join our product development team. You will drive the full lifecycle from concept to prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support, using CAD tools and simulations.

This hybrid role emphasizes collaboration with electrical, industrial design, and marketing teams to deliver robust, cost-effective solutions. You will develop new mechanical solutions, optimize existing lines, and guide prototypes through testing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in product development for consumer electronics or industrial equipment is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team.
• Familiarity with product testing methodologies and quality assurance.
• Willingness to adopt a hybrid work model based in Mahikeng, North West.

Responsabilités

• Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical systems and components for new products using CAD software.
• Conduct performance simulations and analyses to optimize designs for functionality, durability, and cost.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, industrial designers, and marketing.
• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation processes.
• Troubleshoot design issues and propose effective engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with product safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work with manufacturing partners to transition designs to mass production.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of product designs and development processes.
• Stay informed about new technologies and materials relevant to product development.
