Placements24 is helping a dynamic insurance company fill a Junior Underwriting Assistant role in Mahikeng, North West. This hybrid position supports senior underwriters with administrative and analytical tasks to assist the underwriting process.

The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills, eager to learn, and prepared for comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate is essential.
• Diploma or certificate in Business Administration or Insurance is advantageous.
• No prior experience required; internship or coursework in finance or business is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is expected.

Responsabilités

• Assist underwriters in gathering and organizing applicant information, financial data, and loss history reports.
• Review insurance applications for completeness and accuracy, flag discrepancies to senior staff.
• Prepare underwriting files, policy documents and renewal notices.
• Communicate with brokers, agents, and clients to request information or provide policy updates.
• Input and maintain accurate data in the underwriting support system.
• Research industry trends and competitor offerings as directed.
• Support the underwriting team with administrative tasks, scheduling and correspondence.
• Learn and apply underwriting guidelines and company policies.
