Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Project Coordinator for an NGO in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will plan, monitor, and report on conservation initiatives while engaging communities and partners.

Requirements include a related degree and at least two years of project coordination experience; travel to field sites in Mpumalanga is expected. The role combines office planning with essential on-site work in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Geography or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of project coordination or management experience in NGO/non-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of environmental conservation principles.
• Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate.
• Willingness to travel to Mpumalanga project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and coordination of environmental conservation projects, including logistics and resources.
• Support field teams in data collection, monitoring, and reporting on activities and impact.
• Organize and facilitate project meetings, workshops, and community outreach events.
• Develop project documentation: progress reports, minutes, and stakeholder communications.
• Ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Liaise with communities, government agencies, and partners to support objectives.
• Maintain project databases and filing systems.
• Identify potential risks and contribute to mitigation strategies.
• Support grant reporting requirements related to projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of project management processes.
