Job summary

Parvana is seeking a skilled Data Warehouse Engineer in Johannesburg to design and optimize scalable data warehouse solutions. You will implement ETL/ELT pipelines and work with SQL Server/PostgreSQL, Python, and BI tools to drive data-driven decisions.

You’ll participate in Agile/Scrum, contribute to SDLC activities, and help document data flows and architecture while collaborating with stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT or data science.
• Strong knowledge of analytical and dimensional data warehouse modeling, design and architecture.
• Experience in ETL processes with multiple data sources and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analytics.
• Ability to document technical designs, data flows and metadata.
• Experience with BI tools like Power BI or Yellowfin.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data warehouse architectures (Star/Snowflake) and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data quality.
• Write and tune complex SQL (T-SQL/ANSI) and use Python for data manipulation and advanced analytics.
• Own the full SDLC: requirements, design, testing, deployment, and solution estimation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business data needs into technical structures.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
• Develop and maintain dashboards/reports using Power BI or Yellowfin for data-led decision-making.
• Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation (data flow diagrams, specifications, metadata).
• Actively participate in the Agile/Scrum framework and sprint ceremonies.
• Research and evaluate emerging data technologies to continuously improve the data warehouse.
