Job summary

CVQuest is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a hybrid role in Johannesburg or Pretoria. The contract runs 6–12 months with a 3 days onsite, 2 days remote pattern to support analytics and BI initiatives.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, strong Python/SQL, Spark, and hands-on Azure expertise (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake, Denodo) to design and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.

Qualifications

5+ years of data engineering experience.
Strong Python and SQL skills.
Experience with Apache Spark.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Denodo.
Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
Azure Data Factory experience preferred.
Strong ETL/ELT pipeline development experience.
Experience working with Azure Cloud Data Platforms.

Responsibilities

Design and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
Build and optimise enterprise data integrations.
Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance.
Develop data solutions for analytics, AI, and reporting.
Collaborate with Data Architects, Product Owners, and Analytics teams.
Implement engineering best practices, testing, and automation.
