Job description

Job Title: HVAC Technician

Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation on HVAC systems and refrigeration units.

Key Accountabilities / Principal Responsibilities
  1. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  2. Maintain central plants (chillers, pumps, towers, controls).
  3. Maintain DX plants (package units, RACS, splits).
  4. Maintain VRV systems and electrical panels.
  5. Maintain and troubleshoot building management systems.
  6. Liaise with customers daily.
  7. Work unplanned hours during emergencies to ensure business continuity.
  8. Perform other duties as delegated by management.
  9. Carry out repairs on HVAC equipment as per client requests, SLA, and operational rules.
  10. Ensure each maintenance job card has an attached task sheet.
  11. Ensure all staff on the job have appropriate PPE and follow risk assessments and LOTO procedures.
  12. Complete job cards fully and obtain signatures.
  13. Report follow-up work and safety concerns.
  14. Train and develop junior staff through knowledge transfer.
  15. Maintain good housekeeping and tools management.
  16. Provide feedback to helpdesk during repair jobs.
  17. Demonstrate teamwork and assist colleagues.
  18. Adhere to AFMS policies, protocols, and procedures.
  19. Ensure compliance with OHSA and health and safety standards, including contractor management systems.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with central plants.
  • Nationally recognized HVAC qualification (Post Trade Test / N3).
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations and procedures.
