Job Title: HVAC Technician
Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs, and installation on HVAC systems and refrigeration units.
Key Accountabilities / Principal Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations on HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Maintain central plants (chillers, pumps, towers, controls).
- Maintain DX plants (package units, RACS, splits).
- Maintain VRV systems and electrical panels.
- Maintain and troubleshoot building management systems.
- Liaise with customers daily.
- Work unplanned hours during emergencies to ensure business continuity.
- Perform other duties as delegated by management.
- Carry out repairs on HVAC equipment as per client requests, SLA, and operational rules.
- Ensure each maintenance job card has an attached task sheet.
- Ensure all staff on the job have appropriate PPE and follow risk assessments and LOTO procedures.
- Complete job cards fully and obtain signatures.
- Report follow-up work and safety concerns.
- Train and develop junior staff through knowledge transfer.
- Maintain good housekeeping and tools management.
- Provide feedback to helpdesk during repair jobs.
- Demonstrate teamwork and assist colleagues.
- Adhere to AFMS policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OHSA and health and safety standards, including contractor management systems.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Experience with central plants.
- Nationally recognized HVAC qualification (Post Trade Test / N3).
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations and procedures.
