Job description

HVAC Technician (Refrigeration and Ventilation)

Under the management of the HVAC Engineer, duties include:

  1. Maintaining the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of refrigeration plants, including compressor units, piping systems, and refrigerated provision rooms.
  2. Monitoring and supervising the storage temperature of provision storage rooms (chilled and freezer rooms) and refrigerators.
  3. Performing alarm tests and calibrating thermometers in chilled and freezer rooms.
  4. Handling and monitoring provision cooling units and refrigerated catering equipment, including recording refrigerant leakages and implementing corrective actions to minimize leaks.
  5. Maintaining and repairing onboard ice machines, including cleaning and sanitizing.
  6. Maintaining and repairing refrigeration components of beverage dispensing systems.
  7. Conducting inventory checks of spares and consumables.
  8. Performing assigned duties independently.
  9. Assisting with safety duties as directed by the HVAC Engineer and senior management.
  10. Checking data quality in spare parts procurement and ensuring correct delivery.
  11. Assisting in testing and inspecting equipment as required by GLOBAL-HESS, PMS, USPH, and other relevant bodies and regulations.
  12. Monitoring and maintaining the operation of the air conditioning system, including supervision of room air quality across all vessel compartments.
  13. Monitoring operational parameters of HVAC systems.
  14. Performing planned maintenance and repairs on air conditioning units, ducts, and ventilation fans.
  15. Ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of fire dampers.
  16. Inspecting and maintaining engine room ventilation, including daily machinery ventilation checks.
  17. Maintaining and regulating fan outlets in cabins.
  18. Managing the maintenance and procurement systems effectively.
  19. Recording and controlling department records and logbooks.
  20. Checking data quality in spare parts procurement and delivery.
  21. Assisting with tests and inspections required by relevant regulations.
  22. Supporting health and safety initiatives onboard, adhering to HESS regulations and protocols, and reporting violations.
