Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Human Resources Officer to join our team at the Germiston branch. Role Overview

The HR Officer will play a pivotal role by providing support services to our Operational Teams by implementing and maintaining effective Human Resources for the Group. The incumbent will perform this by providing supporting in all HR functional areas. Key Responsibilities

INTERNAL STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, addressing issues promptly and effectively
  • Provide support in resolving employee conflicts, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring fair and consistent application of policies
  • Assist in the meditation workplace conflicts and provide guidance on resolving disputes
  • Assist in the documentation of employee relations matters, maintaining records of investigations, grievances, and resolutions
  • Notify senior HR Management of potential risks identified from ongoing employee engagement
  • Provide strategic HR advice to operational management

TALENT MANAGEMENT

  • Conduct interviews on external candidates in conjunction with operational management
  • Guide the interview panel on the execution of the process to ensure that internal policies and protocols are adhered to
  • Ensure that all recruitment procedures are adhered to the Employment Equity strategy for your allocated area
  • Ensure that Workforce is in-place for each allocated Depot
  • Perform Exit Interviews on exiting employees
  • Ensure that probationary periods are tracked and managed

PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT

  • Assist with guiding Line Managers on succession planning
  • Identify and implement targeted interventions for identified successors
  • Assist Line Management with performance contracting and Individual Development plans
  • Implement relevant training as per Individual Development plans
  • Assist line management with the performance review process
  • Drive and support the implementation of performance improvement plans where needed
  • Provide coaching to employees to enhance job performance and career development
  • Assist operational line management in implementing continuous development initiatives
  • Arrangement of Monthly and Quarterly Employment Equity / Training Meetings

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS

  • Assist in proactively and positively managing the relationship with Trade Unions representing employees on site
  • Representation at the CCMA / National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry [ Conciliation and Arbitration]
  • Acted as advisor to management on disciplinary matters, grievances, performance management, and general people practices

HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • Drive the Company’s’ Zero Harm policy within your area of operations
  • Compliance with all health & safety requirements in line with the company's OHS policies & procedures
  • Work within the ISO frameworks and other required by Clients
  • Ensure all SHEQ policies and requirements are upheld and met
  • Ensure SHEQ site file is implemented and maintained

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Grade 12 with relevant tertiary degree in Human Resources or Industrial Relations
  • 3-5 Years HR Generalist experience
  • 2 Years Employee Relations experience / IR experience within the CCMA and NBCRFLI
  • Sound knowledge of the NBCRFLI payroll and leave
  • Ability to speak three [3] or more local languages
  • Intermediate ability in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own transport and flexibility to travel
