Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join the Johannesburg team.

Key Performance Areas

  1. To develop the HR department from a resource and strategy point of view.
  2. Determine purpose and organogram for HR.
  3. Determine (with line managers) key HR objectives and priorities.
  4. Lead HR team and interaction with ER manager.
  5. To allocate human resources ensuring appropriate matches between personnel.
  6. Develop and document HR policies and procedures.
  7. Review and/or writing of all HR policies consultation with union and training of all employees with regards to Policies and Procedure.
  8. To advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment and recommend needed changes.
  9. To analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organizations personnel policies and practices.
  10. Record Keeping
  11. To maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
  12. Staffing
  13. To perform difficult staffing duties including dealing with under-staffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
  14. Interaction with Union, both traditional industrial relations matters (disciplinary hearings, etc.) and relationship building.
  15. Advise managers in respect of disciplinary hearings and sanctions (will have an IR practitioner as part of HR team).
  16. Monitor internal and Bargaining Council cases.
  17. Work with ER manager to ensure grievances are attended to.
  18. To serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems.
  19. Implement processes to ensure compliance with HR related legislation (e.g., Employment Equity plans).
  20. To study legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends.
  21. Implement a performance appraisal system.
  22. Document and cascade targets and objectives for company operation.
  23. Implement and monitor regular performance appraisal process.
  24. To oversee the evaluation, classification, and rating of occupations and job positions.
  25. People capacity and team development coordination and championing.
  26. Coaching and mentoring.
  27. Leadership Development.
  28. Succession planning.
  29. Recruitment and Selection up to management level.
  30. Assessment of candidates.
  31. Selection Interviews.
  32. Oversee and participate in continuous improvement (automation) of HR administration in conjunction with Head Office.

Requirements

  1. Bachelors Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 in Human Resource Management or similar.
  2. Up to 6 years experience in a human resources environment.
  3. Driver's license and own vehicle (will need to travel between sites).
  4. Knowledge of NBCRFLI and MIBCO advantageous.

Education

  1. Bachelors Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 in Human Resource Management or similar.
