Head of People

We are seeking a strategic and people-focused Head of People to lead and evolve the human capital function within a fast-growing business unit. If you are passionate about shaping culture, building exceptional teams, and driving scalable HR strategies in a dynamic environment, we’d love to hear from you!

Role Overview

As the Head of People, you will be responsible for designing and executing a people strategy aligned with business objectives. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with senior leadership, you will champion employee experience, talent acquisition, leadership development, and culture-building initiatives. Your goal will be to attract, retain, and develop high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive, agile, and engaging workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and implement a scalable people strategy aligned with business growth.
  • Lead the People team and cultivate a high-performance, collaborative HR function.
  • Build and nurture a people-first culture that prioritises employee engagement, inclusion, and well-being.
  • Oversee talent acquisition and workforce planning to ensure optimal team structure and succession pipelines.
  • Drive learning and development initiatives, including leadership coaching and career pathing.
  • Develop and manage performance, compensation, and reward structures that are fair, transparent, and competitive.
  • Ensure HR operations are compliant with South African labour law and aligned with global HR best practices.
  • Lead organisational development and change management initiatives to support scaling and transformation.
  • Own HR analytics and reporting to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an HR leadership role, ideally in a high-growth or global environment.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African labour laws; international HR exposure is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
  • Passionate about building company culture and fostering employee engagement.
  • Hands-on and proactive with a data-driven mindset.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
