Human Resources / Industrial Relations Manager

Salary / rate : Market Related

Position overview :

To provide support to senior management and the project, ensuring a harmonious working environment for all employees on the site. Ensure adherence to processes and procedures in Industrial Relations across the company. Minimize risks from disputes by maintaining correct and consistent processes. Provide training and development in IR processes for internal management. Represent and attend internal IR forums and external dispute resolution forums.

Qualifications :

  • Matric
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an IR / ER management role
  • Degree / diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or Labour Relations
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clear ITC and criminal record

Skills and Experience :

  • At least 5 years’ experience in HR / IR role
  • Understanding of BCEA, LRA, EE, SDL, and POPI acts
  • Knowledge of HR regulations and compliance with South African law
  • Experience working in a mega construction site is advantageous

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and analyze operating procedures related to IR, ER, and HR
  • Manage grievances promptly and keep management informed
  • Improve communication and cooperation within the HR department
  • Maintain and update strike and contingency plans
  • Assist employees and management with queries
  • Advise management on employee conflicts
  • Perform HR administrative duties, including filing
  • Develop HR, IR, and ER protocols, operating procedures, and handbooks
  • Ensure HR policies and regulations are followed
  • Support disciplinary procedures, including documentation and hearings
  • Assist with CCMA or Labour court referrals when necessary
  • Collaborate with employee representatives, union officials, and management to resolve conflicts
  • Negotiate collective bargaining agreements
  • Organize and conduct new staff orientation on conduct and protocols
  • Prepare HR reports and monthly payroll inputs
  • Assist in managing the ED office for effective operation
