Job description

This position requires a technically focused, task orientated person who can work at high pace in a deliberate predictable and organised manner, with a high regard for cleanliness and hygiene; to be responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of the kitchen areas

Organisational Positioning :

  • Reporting to : Executive Chef
  • Liaising with : Kitchen staff
  • Location : The Twelve Apostles Hotel Premises

Minimum Experience or Qualification :

  • Grade 12
  • Neat with high regard for personal hygiene and presentation
  • Conversational English verbal communication skills
  • Physically fit for heavy lifting
  • Able to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays

Key Performance Objectives :

  • To ensure that kitchen operating equipment is handled, cleaned and stored in accordance with SOPs so as to ensure minimal breakage
  • To use chemicals in accordance with manufacturing guidelines and company health and safety requirements and kitchen SOP to ensure optimal cleaning and minimal wastage
  • To ensure that the scullery area and operating equipment storage areas are kept organised and clean in accordance with SOP
  • To ensure that kitchen capital equipment is deep cleaned nightly in accordance with SOP
  • To ensure that bins and floors throughout the kitchen are cleaned regularly to ensure strict hygiene and health and safety practices
  • To ensure that used cooking oil is drained and stored in accordance with company SOP
