Job description

What We Are Looking For

The Human Resource Business Partner (Somerset West & Wellington) will be responsible for providing value-adding integrated human resource support to the sites that contributes to the achievement of the overall strategic business objectives. The incumbent will provide expert support in areas such as recruitment, talent management, employee relations, performance management, succession planning, operations and other HR related matters.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Recruitment


  • Arrange and conduct interviews and process hiring-related paperwork (venue, travel & documentation, interview packs, MIE checks).
  • Responsible for on and off boarding
  • Prepare monthly reports on staff movement.
  • Monitor and report on hr metrics
  • Draft employment contracts in collaboration with the Compensation and Benefits Department.


People Development


  • Assist line management identifying skills gaps with training and Development needs in line with relevant legislation (BEE and Skills Development Acts)
  • Guide Line Managers on succession planning.
  • Identify and implement targeted interventions for identified successors.
  • Assist Line Management with performance contracting and Individual Development plans.
  • Implement relevant training as per Individual development plans.
  • Assist line management with the performance review process.
  • Drive and support the implementation of performance improvement plans where needed.
  • Provide coaching to employees to enhance job performance and career development.
  • Assist operational line management in implementing continuous development initiatives.


Employee Relations


  • Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, addressing issues promptly and effectively.
  • Guide Line Management and ensure compliance with labour legislation and internal policies.
  • Manage disciplinary and grievance procedures in line with policy and legislation.
  • Draft relevant documentation for initiating the disciplinary process.
  • Mediate workplace conflicts and provide guidance on resolving disputes.
  • Actively communicate with the labour representatives on site for prompt resolution of issues.
  • Assist in proactively and positively managing the relationship with Trade Unions representing employees on site.
  • Representing the company at Dispute Resolution Centres (CCMA, Bargaining Councils etc).


HR Administration


  • Maintain employee personnel records.
  • Deal with all sites related HR and HR Operational related matters.
  • Responsible for maintaining site organograms.
  • Responsible for administering employee benefits (medical aid, pension sick pay, leave, timesheets and timekeeper)
  • Maintain employee personnel records.


HR Projects


  • Responsible for group engagement initiatives such as Your Voice and Rheinmetall Active.
  • Initiate and implement diversity and inclusion programmes in your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that Employee Assistance programmes are effective and liaise with on-site clinics for the management of EAP’s.
  • Drive awareness and implement Group initiatives such as Success Factors, Skills Soft, Health Management in collaboration with the different project teams.
  • Collaborate with management to align HR strategies with Group objectives.
  • Any other HR ad hoc projects.


What Qualifications You Should Have


  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources/ industrial and Organisational Psychology or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, with at least 2 years as an HR Business Partner with within the manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of relevant labor laws and practices.
  • Working knowledge of recruitment and selection best practices
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Good computer skills (MS Office & SAP)
  • Strong administration skills
  • Report writing skills.
