Standard Bank Group is seeking a Huawei Cloud Architect to lead architectural leadership for Huawei Cloud across the bank. You will define and govern Huawei Cloud platform capabilities, roadmaps, reference architectures, and governance frameworks to enable secure, scalable cloud services at scale.

This role collaborates with Architecture, Infra, Security, Data, Risk and Technology teams to ensure landing zones, guardrails and operating models meet business objectives.

The Huawei Cloud & Technology Architect will provide architectural leadership for Huawei Cloud and related Huawei technologies across Standard Bank Group. The role is responsible for defining, governing, and evolving Huawei Cloud platform capabilities, standards, and adoption across the organisation. This includes the development of cloud architecture standards, target-state roadmaps, reference architectures, platform blueprints, and governance frameworks that enable secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant cloud services. A key accountability of the role is the ownership, design, governance, and continuous evolution of the Huawei Cloud Landing Zone, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, security requirements, regulatory obligations, and strategic business objectives.

The successful candidate will lead the establishment and adoption of cloud foundations, landing zones, operating models, platform guardrails, and cloud-native architecture practices across the Group. As a trusted advisor, they will provide architecture leadership and governance across strategic technology initiatives, drive the evolution of Huawei Cloud capabilities and related Huawei technologies, and define standards that enable consistent cloud adoption at scale. Working closely with Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, Engineering, Data, Risk, and Technology teams, the incumbent will ensure that Huawei Cloud services are implemented in a secure, well-governed, and sustainable manner that supports innovation, operational efficiency, and long-term business growth. Applicants with strong AWS or Azure architecture experience are encouraged to apply, as cloud platform, governance, landing zone, and multi-cloud architecture skills are highly transferable to the Huawei Cloud ecosystem.

Experience Required

Enterprise Architecture & Cloud Strategy

10+ years

• Extensive experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or Cloud Architecture within large-scale enterprise environments.
• Experience designing and governing enterprise-wide cloud transformation programmes.
• Proven track record in banking, financial services, or highly regulated industries.
• Strong understanding of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent.
• Experience defining and governing enterprise cloud platforms, landing zones, standards, guardrails, and operating models at scale.
• Ability to align cloud platform roadmaps and governance practices across multiple business units and enterprise domains.

Huawei Cloud Platform & Technology Architecture

5+ years

• Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions on Huawei Cloud and/or related Huawei technologies.
• Huawei Cloud experience is preferred; however, strong AWS or Azure cloud architecture experience will also be considered where the candidate can demonstrate strong cloud platform, landing zone, and governance expertise.
• Deep knowledge of Huawei Cloud services including:
• Elastic Cloud Server (ECS)
• Object Storage Service (OBS)
• Relational Database Service (RDS)
• Data Lake Insight (DLI)
• Cloud Security and IAM services
• Experience establishing Huawei Cloud landing zones, governance frameworks, and operational models.
• Strong understanding of Huawei Cloud platform architecture, cloud foundations, and enterprise-scale landing zone design.
• Experience defining and governing cloud guardrails, security patterns, network architecture, identity management, workload onboarding standards, and platform operating models.
• Experience developing Huawei Cloud platform roadmaps and evolving cloud capabilities in line with enterprise architecture and business requirements.
• Understanding of Huawei technologies and their integration within enterprise ecosystems.
• Knowledge of cloud migration methodologies and modernization approaches.

Cloud Engineering and DevSecOps

5+ years

• Experience implementing CI/CD and DevSecOps practices within large engineering organisations.
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation or equivalent).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, and container orchestration platforms.
• Experience integrating security, testing, and compliance automation into deployment pipelines.

Technology Leadership

• Experience leading architecture, engineering, or platform teams.
