Key Responsibilities:- Accept legal appointment in terms of General Machinery Regulation 2.1.
- Ensure safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Performing maintenance, cleaning or adjustment work.
- Any prescribed statutory inspections and/or tests are performed by a competent person and that the records in this regard are kept and maintained.
- Oversee the implementation of engineering controls and statutory inspections.
- Liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
- Lead incident investigations related to machinery and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Facilitate HSE risk assessments and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
- Ensure compliance with local HSE legislation and company standards.
- Drive behavioral change through training, awareness, and engagement programs.
- Support line management in fulfilling their HSE responsibilities.
- Manage HSE-related projects and contribute to sustainability objectives.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote HSE performance.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:- National Diploma or bachelor’s in technology or BSc Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Factories (advantageous or required depending on site).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven experience in HSE management and legal compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OHS Act, GMR, and relevant SANS standards.
