Key Responsibilities:

• Accept legal appointment in terms of General Machinery Regulation 2.1.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• Performing maintenance, cleaning or adjustment work.
• Any prescribed statutory inspections and/or tests are performed by a competent person and that the records in this regard are kept and maintained.
• Oversee the implementation of engineering controls and statutory inspections.
• Liaise with the Department of Employment and Labour and ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
• Lead incident investigations related to machinery and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Facilitate HSE risk assessments and ensure mitigation plans are in place.
• Ensure compliance with local HSE legislation and company standards.
• Drive behavioral change through training, awareness, and engagement programs.
• Support line management in fulfilling their HSE responsibilities.
• Manage HSE-related projects and contribute to sustainability objectives.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote HSE performance.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

• National Diploma or bachelor’s in technology or BSc Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Factories (advantageous or required depending on site).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience in HSE management and legal compliance.
• Strong knowledge of OHS Act, GMR, and relevant SANS standards.
