HSE Officer

Job Description

Inspect work areas to ensure compliance with all relevant contract, National, and site HSE Regulations. Monitor work activities and record relevant information. Audit sub-contractor compliance with the HSE plan and applicable legislative requirements and report to relevant stakeholders as required – Project Team, GW Africa, Client.

Position Responsibilities

1. Discharge his duties as the CR8(5) on the Wind Farm.
2. Implement and manage Health and Safety systems and plans; always ensure legal compliance with OHS Act and MHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, customer requirements, as well as any other applicable legislation.
3. Conduct all internal H&S induction training for all employees and contractors at the Project (Induction, HIRA, Correct use of PPE, Safe behavior and awareness).
4. Assist in compiling risk assessments (Baseline, Issue, and continuous).
5. Ensure that daily risk assessments are completed correctly, assessed, and distributed.
6. Manage safety performance of subcontractors; ensure no sub-contractor is permitted to work on site without being in possession of a safety file.
7. Compile and update the health and safety file.
8. Ensure all employees/visitors are inducted prior to being permitted to enter or work on site.
9. Ensure that all appointments are done as per the site SHE organogram and that the communication of responsibilities to the appointee is explained.
10. Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan and ensure all supervisors and contractors are supplied with a copy of the plan.
11. Assist and support the environmental officer when not on site.
12. Preserve blue skies and white clouds for the future.
13. Ensure that all monthly and weekly applicable inspections are done.
14. Revise the HSE Plan when applicable and required.
15. Conduct accident/incident investigations and reporting.

Internal Working Relationship

1. The HSE Officer shall function as part of the Project Site Team.

External Working Relationship

1. Liaise with Goldwind HO, contractors, external suppliers, and the client representatives.

Qualifications

1. Matric.
2. Diploma or certificate in HSE.
3. SACPMP Registration.

Work Experience

1. More than two years of construction safety-related experience.

Basic Skill and Knowledge

1. Extremely organized and efficient individual.
2. Work well under pressure and have impressive stress management skills.
3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Proclivity for catching errors and enacting appropriate changes.
5. Excellent analytical ability.
