Job summary

Herotel Telecoms (Pty) Ltd in Pretoria is seeking an HSE Coordinator: Business to own client safety files from compilation through to client approval, ensuring every site has a complete, current file before access or handover.

You will develop a library of templates, engage with client safety managers and auditors, defend methodologies, and oversee document control, risk assessments and records across projects and sites.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus an advanced safety qualification such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH or a National Diploma in Safety Management.
• A minimum of 2+ years' dedicated experience managing client safety files within Telecommunications or Infrastructure sectors.
• Certified training in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), with proven experience authoring telecom hazard files.
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and GAR 9.
• Ability to audit third-party documentation and enforce standards.

Responsibilities

Are you a detail focused safety professional with a passion for keeping telecom teams and sites fully compliant? Join our Herotel Business team as an HSE Coordinator: Business in Tshwane or Plattekloof, where you'll take ownership of client safety files from compilation through to client approval, ensuring no site is ever accessed or handed over without a complete and current file. This role is perfect for a confident, methodical coordinator who thrives on documentation, enjoys engaging directly with client safety managers and auditors, and takes real pride in getting things right the first time.

What you’ll do:

• Compile, customise and structure master project safety files to meet the standards of Herotel Business clients
• Build and maintain a library of file templates, indexes and standard annexures for fast project mobilisation
• Act as the primary, senior level point of contact for external client safety managers and auditors
• Present safety files and defend methodologies, including specialised RF hazard assessments, to secure client approval
• Resolve non conformances and audit findings, tracking each through to closure
• Maintain a client approval register reflecting the live status of every file, per project and per site
• Review, audit and approve safety files submitted by turnkey subcontractors
• Withhold or suspend approval where subcontractor documentation is deficient, escalating repeat issues to Management
• Maintain a structured digital document control system with strict version control and a clear audit trail
• Track medical surveillance records, heights and climbing certificates, and equipment inspection records, issuing expiry notifications well in advance
• Keep Base Risk Assessments, Fall Protection Plans and Safe Work Procedures continuously updated in line with evolving legislation and RF safety guidelines
• Issue site specific risk assessments and Fall Protection Plans as required by the client scope
• Report on safety file status, client approvals and outstanding items to Management on the agreed cycle

What you’ll need:

• Grade 12
• A recognised advanced safety qualification such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH or a National Diploma in Safety Management
• A minimum of 2+ years' dedicated experience managing client safety files within the Telecommunications or Infrastructure sector
• Certified, formal training in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), with proven experience authoring telecom hazard files
• Deep working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and the General Administrative Regulations (GAR 9)
• Working knowledge of telecom site safety, including work at height, rooftop and structure access, and Radio Frequency (RF) exposure controls
• Exceptional attention to detail with an accurate and methodical approach to documentation
• A confident, credible communicator able to present and defend safety documentation to external auditors
• Strong document control and records management discipline, including version control and expiry tracking
• The ability to audit third party documentation objectively and hold subcontractors to standard
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Advanced MS Office and document management system proficiency
• The ability to work independently and deliver to client deadlines
