Job description

R 30 000 - R 35 000 Monthly Basic Salary (Market related, Negotiable)

Our client based in Gauteng is seeking an HR Officer to join their team. Please note that this is a contract position until May 2026.

Responsibilities
  1. Administration: Conduct new employee induction, complete HR induction checklist, arrange pre-employment and exit medicals, conduct exit interviews, issue departmental induction checklists and job descriptions, ensure completion within 3 months.
  2. Advisory Service: Maintain knowledge of employment terms & conditions, provide ongoing advice & guidance to employees & management.
  3. Benefits Administration: Coordinate member communications for medical aid and other funds, attend to queries.
  4. Long Service Awards: Coordinate awards arrangements and presentations.
  5. Workersforum: Coordinate and attend meetings, follow up on action points, distribute minutes and posters, keep management informed.
  6. General: Arrange flowers for events, send notices to staff.
  7. Recruitment & Selection: Assist with advertisements, coordinate placements, screen applicants, conduct interviews, coordinate assessments, manage references, update recruitment database.
  8. Remuneration: Assist with salary expectations, draft offers, facilitate discussions, provide survey data, obtain management mandates.
  9. Payroll communication: Notify HR Administrator of appointments, terminations, and payroll changes.
  10. Administration: Track staff movements, authorize invoices, ensure proper documentation filing.
  11. Industrial Relations: Provide guidance on employment legislation, ensure lawful compliance, coordinate shop steward meetings, promote good relations with unions.
  12. Discipline, Grievances, Sick Leave: Guide management, handle inquiries, record and report on disciplinary actions.
  13. Skills Development: Conduct training needs analysis, maintain training records, organize training logistics.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • HR related Degree / Diploma
  • At least 5 years of HR generalist experience
  • Experience in personnel administration, benefits, industrial relations, recruitment
  • Understanding of HR legislation
