Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HR Generalist experience in SSA.
  • Experience in multinational or corporate organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to optimizing HR organization and processes in the SSA Region.
  • Implement HR policies and processes aligned with corporate guidelines and regional specifications.
  • Review, update, and implement policies and procedures for the region.
  • Lead the development of local policies for the SSA entity, aligning with local management.
  • Manage and coordinate HR functions in the SSA region in alignment with regional MDs.
  • Collaborate with local MDs and MEA HR to develop HR strategies supporting business goals.
  • Handle workforce planning, staffing, recruiting, and onboarding in Evonik Africa.
  • Implement performance management and talent development plans.
  • Support MEA HR during job grading and salary band alignment across SSA.
  • Prepare annual salary and bonus proposals for the Head of HR MEA.
  • Manage employment contracts, offer letters, and job descriptions in accordance with local laws.
  • Coordinate medical aid, pension fund issues, and serve on pension committees for SSA.
  • Handle personnel and disciplinary topics within SSA, in coordination with local MDs.
  • Support employees daily operational needs at Evonik Africa and Peroxide plant.
  • Ensure employee documentation and HR data are updated timely in systems like Workday.
  • Manage HR administrative tasks, including union liaison and employee documentation filing.
  • Handle employment equity, workers' compensation, and related submissions for SSA.
  • Manage B-BBEE HR elements and tax-related filings such as EMP501 and IRP5s.

Optional responsibilities include payroll management, salary reconciliation, and provisions for benefits like 13th cheques and leave pay.

Requirements
  • University degree, preferably in HR or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist experience in SSA.
  • Experience in multinational or corporate organizations.
  • Knowledge of BBBEE, employment equity, workers' compensation, unions, and insurances.
  • Experience with HR ERP systems, preferably Workday.
  • At least 3 years of payroll administration experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel between Durban and Midrand.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Zulu, Afrikaans, or other local languages is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, providing guidance on policies and employee development.
