Qualifications

Role Responsibilities
  1. Optimizing HR organization and processes in the SSA Region.
  2. Implementing HR policies and processes aligned with corporate guidelines and regional specifications.
  3. Reviewing, updating, and implementing policies and procedures for the region.
  4. Leading the development of local policies for the SSA entity, aligning with local management.
  5. Managing and coordinating HR functions in the SSA region in alignment with regional MDs.
  6. Collaborating with local MDs and MEA HR to develop HR strategies supporting business goals.
  7. Handling workforce planning, staffing, recruiting, and onboarding in Evonik Africa.
  8. Implementing performance management and talent development plans.
  9. Supporting MEA HR during job grading and salary band alignment across SSA.
  10. Preparing annual salary and bonus proposals for the Head of HR MEA.
  11. Managing employment contracts, offer letters, and job descriptions in accordance with local laws.
  12. Coordinating medical aid, pension fund issues, and serving on pension committees for SSA.
  13. Handling personnel and disciplinary topics within SSA, in coordination with local MDs.
  14. Supporting employees daily operational needs at Evonik Africa and Peroxide plant.
  15. Ensuring employee documentation and HR data are updated timely in systems like Workday.
  16. Managing HR administrative tasks, including union liaison and employee documentation filing.
  17. Handling employment equity, workers' compensation, and related submissions for SSA.
  18. Managing B-BBEE HR elements and tax-related filings such as EMP and IRP5s.
Minimum Requirements
  1. University degree, preferably in HR or related field.
  2. Minimum 5 years of HR Generalist experience in SSA.
  3. Experience in multinational or corporate organizations.
  4. Knowledge of BBBEE, employment equity, workers' compensation, unions, and insurances.
  5. Experience with HR ERP systems, preferably Workday.
  6. At least 3 years of payroll administration experience.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
  8. Willingness to travel between Durban and Midrand.
  9. Fluent in English; knowledge of Zulu, Afrikaans, or other local languages is advantageous.
  10. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, providing guidance on policies and employee development.
