The Discovery Health People team sits central to the Discovery Health environment and comprises of three functions namely Strategic Enablement, Human Resources and Learning and Development. The team serves as a Centre of Excellence enabling business and operations to realise its strategies from a People perspective.

Key Purpose

Create, implement and manage HR solutions across the employee lifecycle to sustain and grow the business and its staff. This includes bringing transactional HR expertise to the business and its people as well as integrating people strategies with the business strategy.

Areas of Responsibility

  1. Recruitment & selection
  2. Onboarding
  3. Performance (driving for a high performance culture, performance improvement strategies, etc.)
  4. Talent Management (planning & tracking of agreed actions)
  5. Retention Planning
  6. Succession planning
  7. IR Transformation: EE & Skills Development
  8. Employee relations
  9. Reporting & trend analysis
  10. Corrective action for HR insights
  11. Ensure implementation of HR policies & procedures
  12. Partnership with area exec in driving for people objectives & outcomes
  13. Engagement & culture management
  14. Execution of people strategies & initiatives for own area (area's, DHP & DP)
  15. Problem solving (team performance, engagement, culture, turnover, etc.)

Team management

HR team in allocated area/s.

Skills Required

  1. Well-developed interpersonal skills
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels from staff to CEO
  3. Strong persuasion skills and credibility
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  5. Ability to be task- and deadline-driven in a highly pressurized environment
  6. Excellent organizational & time management skills
  7. Ability to work independently

Education and Experience

Qualification: 1-2 years' experience as a HR Manager leading a team.

Experience: Experience working in a hospital / clinical environment (advantageous), Discovery Experience (advantageous).
