About The Role

As HR Manager, you’ll lead and manage the full human resources function, aligning HR strategy with business goals, leading employment equity and B-BBEE efforts, and promoting a learning culture. You’ll manage a small HR team and act as a trusted advisor to leadership, ensuring people operations run smoothly, compliantly, and with heart.

Key Responsibilities

  • General HR Leadership
    • Serve as a strategic HR partner to business and operational leaders.
    • Lead employee lifecycle activities including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and offboarding.
    • Manage Employment Equity planning and B-BBEE compliance processes.
    • Roll out performance management frameworks and employee engagement initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with HR policies, legal requirements, and company standards.
  • HR Administration & Compliance
    • Maintain accurate employee records and manage payroll-related documentation.
    • Oversee statutory reporting and grant submissions (WSP, ATR).
    • Liaise with service providers and support HR-related audits.
  • Learning & Development
    • Conduct training needs assessments with department heads.
    • Design and implement development plans and upskilling initiatives.
    • Track training progress and drive learning culture across all levels.
    • Support leadership development and manage centralised training budgets.
  • People & Team Management
    • Lead a team of HR and L&D professionals, including an HR Officer and Training Specialist.
    • Provide mentorship and day-to-day operational oversight.
    • Foster strong internal relationships across business units and departments.
Must-Have Experience

  • 5–8 years in Human Resources, including at least 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation, employment equity, and B-BBEE compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, ideally People 300 (HR, EE, Training Modules).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong HR data/reporting capability.
  • Proven track record in performance management, talent planning, and employee relations.
  • Experience driving or managing learning & development initiatives.

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Background in travel, tourism, hospitality, or other client-facing industries.
  • Experience managing discretionary and mandatory grant applications.
  • Familiarity with ESG-aligned HR strategies or people-centred transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to work in a multi-brand, fast-paced, and evolving business environment.
