Requirements

Responsibilities

  1. Recruitment
  • Write and post job ads
  • Pre-screen candidates
  • Create competency-based interview questionnaires
  • Interview applicants
  • Discuss benefits and compensation
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Make employment offers
  • Create and manage "settle-in" interviews and processes for improvement
  • Training and Development
    • Manage all apprentice lifecycle
    • Apply for apprentice trade test dates with College and MERSETA
    • Develop Skills Matrix for all staff
    • Conduct training needs analysis
    • Plan and manage staff skills development
    • Submit annual WSP / ATR
    • Apply for grants
    • Implement individual development plans
    • Conduct in-house training
    • Provide industrial relations training for managers
  • Employment Equity
    • Manage employment equity meetings/forums
    • Draft employment equity policies
    • Recruit within EE guidelines
    • Submit annual EE reports
  • Organizational Culture
    • Assess and improve company culture
    • Align staff with company mission, values, and vision
    • Implement succession planning
  • Communication & Compensation
    • Manage company benefits (medical aid, provident fund)
    • Ensure EE recruitment supports company status
  • Industrial Relations
    • Chair disciplinary hearings
    • Conflict management and counselling
  • Compliance
    • Ensure training in health and safety, First Aid, etc.
    • Ensure compliance with Department of Labour and COIDA
    • Order staff uniforms and PPE according to deadlines
  • Terminations
    • Manage resignation acceptance and termination documentation
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Prepare skills assessments and competency frameworks
    • Create job grading, descriptions, and advertisements
    • Manage COIDA processes and submissions
    • Maintain HR records and documents

    The ideal candidate should be highly organized, computer literate (Word, Excel), and experienced in HR software systems, including HRMS. They should also have strong industrial relations skills and a good understanding of labour laws.
