Strategic HR Business Partner (Major Expansion Project)
Location: South Africa (Head Office)Role Type: Permanent
Dont just join a company. Help build one.
Most HR roles are about maintaining the status quo. This role is about breaking it to build something bigger. We are recruiting for a South African retail giant with a bold mandate: to quadruple their workforce over the next five years.
We need a Strategic HR Business Partner who is tired of just "keeping the lights on." We need an architect who can take a diverse, evolving portfolio of business units and build the people structures they need to scale at speed.
Why This Is Your Career-Defining Moment
- The "Blank Canvas" Factor: Because we are in a state of massive transformation, you aren't walking into a rigid, pre-set box. You will have the freedom to shape the people strategy for your divisions, leaving a legacy that will last for decades.
- Resume Gold: Being a key player in a company that quadruples in size is the kind of case study that defines a career. You will gain exposure to high-volume workforce planning, complex organizational design, and mass talent acquisition.
- True Strategic Influence: You wont just be pushing paper. You will sit with functional leaders as a trusted advisor, translating commercial targets into human reality.
- High-Octane Culture: This is a high-performance environment. You will sharpen your resilience and agility, learning how to drive results in a business that moves faster than the market.
What You Will Be Delivering
- The Strategy: You will partner with functional heads to design org structures and people plans that support aggressive growth targets.
- The Talent Pipeline: You will work with the Talent Acquisition team to forecast headcount needs, ensuring your divisions have the right people in the right seats before the business needs them.
- The Risk Management: You will handle complex Employee Relations (ER) issues, ensuring that speed doesn't compromise compliance with SA Labour Law.
- The Culture: You will take the companys new culture framework and make it real for your teams, driving engagement through localized interventions.
- The Data: You will use people analytics to tell stories—showing your leaders exactly where productivity, turnover, and engagement stand.
What You Need to Bring
- The Experience: 4 to 6 years as an HR Generalist or BP. You need to be past the "learning the basics" phase and ready to lead.
- The Background: Experience in Retail, Logistics, or Healthcare is essential. You need to understand high-volume, shift-based, or multi-site environments.
- The Education: A Bachelors Degree in HR or Industrial Psychology.
- The Legal Knowledge: Deep confidence in South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA). You must be able to guide managers through complex ER matters independently.
- The Mindset: Commercial acumen. You need to understand how a business makes money so you can align HR to the bottom line.
