Job description

Job Title: Housing Needs Officer

Are you a Housing Needs Officer looking for work in East London?

Morgan Hunt's Public Sector and Government client based in East London is seeking to recruit a Housing Needs Officer to support during a busy period.

This assignment is inside IR35.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expert advice on welfare benefits including Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, and Discretionary Housing Payments. Assist with benefit applications and represent clients in appeals and tribunals.
  2. Deliver housing options and advice services, including homelessness prevention, housing applications, and private renting support. Conduct needs assessments and provide information on available support services.
  3. Use the JIGSAW system to record client interactions, assessments, referrals, and case notes accurately, ensuring data protection compliance.
  4. Advocate for clients by liaising with landlords, local authorities, and support agencies to access housing solutions and support services.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams, local authorities, housing associations, and community organizations to coordinate support and attend multi-agency meetings.
  6. Deliver training sessions and workshops on welfare benefits, housing rights, and entitlements. Promote awareness through outreach activities.
