A leading South African hospitality group renowned for its unique collection of luxury hotels, lodges, and resorts situated in some of the country’s most iconic locations is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and guest-centric Hotel Manager to lead one of their prestigious hotels.
Position: Hotel Manager

Operations
- Develop and build guest relationships, promptly respond to guest needs.
- Maintain efficient check-in procedures.
- Ensure effective liaison between Reservations, Front Office Staff, and other departments.
- Ensure accounts are balanced daily.
- Ensure effective and accurate check-out facilities.
- Maintain company policy within the housekeeping department.
- Maintain hotel exclusivity procedures.
- Conduct systematic checks of all Front of House areas and guests.
- Report faults to maintenance and follow up.
- Ensure repairs are actioned without delay, maintaining 100% facilities.
- Ensure maximum security in all areas under your control.
- Conduct monthly asset counts.
- Understand kitchen and restaurant management plans.
- Manage daily cash-ups to avoid risk.
- Ensure high-quality service standards.
- Maintain standards of food presentation as per Food Consultant specifications.
- Ensure cleanliness of restaurants, bars, and public areas.
- Monitor daily variance reports and address shortages.
- Manage void reports effectively.
- Understand team roles and responsibilities.
- Regularly update and evaluate the custodians list.
- Update aesthetics and facilities files monthly.
- Ensure asset list is updated, signed off monthly, and recorded in facilities files.
- Check luggage storage and key control procedures regularly.
- Maintain uniform standards across all departments.
- Implement and uphold Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct or oversee regular on-the-job training.
- Manage weekly rosters and monitor attendance.
- Apply progressive discipline where applicable.
- Consider business impact in decision-making.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and proactive approach.
- Align with group objectives and develop solutions to improve organizational performance.
Financial
- Implement initiatives to increase revenue.
- Control debtors and prevent open accounts.
- Manage travel platform commissions.
- Sign all front desk and housekeeping purchase orders.
- Achieve targeted Food and Beverage costs.
- Sign off on monthly income statements.
Human Resources
- Manage staff HR files, understanding personal details and interests.
- Maintain staff files and collaborate with HR on appointments.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals, identifying development needs.
- Participate in progressive discipline processes with HR.
General
- Focus on guest reviews and feedback.
- Understand and leverage key guest demographics.
- Be deadline-driven and innovative.
- Stay informed on hospitality trends and set trends rather than follow them.
You are expected to be available telephonically and to have access to read and respond to emails at all times.
Qualifications: Matric certificate, hospitality-related qualification.
Experience: Essential operational experience, 2-4 years in a similar role within a 4/5-star environment, familiarity with Front Office/Reservations duties, strong financial and F&B experience, proficient in MS Office.
