Job summary

The Haven Night Shelter is seeking a Host for their Swartland location. The successful candidate will ensure a safe environment for clients and assist with their intake and supervision. Ideal applicants will have a driver's license and good interpersonal skills, especially in conflict management. This role requires teamwork and basic computer skills, contributing to the welfare of individuals transitioning from homelessness.

HOST POSITION - SWARTLAND

The Haven Night Shelter Organisation’s method is to offer social work services, rehabilitation opportunities, family reunification services, physical care, and support to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.

The Haven Night Shelter Napier Street requires the services of a Host who will report directly to the Shelter Manager.

Minimum Duties

• Maintaining a calm, safe, and functional environment.
• Being an excellent host to guests and clients of the Haven.
• The initial intake of clients.
• Supervising clients in their allocated duties.
• Administrative duties.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the shelter and housekeeping.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Reside in the area close to the shelter or in the surrounding areas.
• Code B driver’s license.
• Grade 11 Certificate.
• Ability to work shifts and alternate weekends.
• Ability to interact with clients from different cultures and religions.
• Manage conflict situations.
• Basic computer literacy (MS Office, MS Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Sober habits, no criminal record, in good health.
• Experience in the NGO sector is an advantage.
