Department of Health in South Africa is seeking a Pharmacist (Grade 1) to join the team under the Gauteng Province. The role requires registration with SAPC and robust knowledge of Pharmacy Acts, PFMA, and GPP. You will support clinical ward rounds, stewardship activities, and supervise junior staff.

The position emphasizes medication management, dispensing, counseling, and ensuring continuous availability of medicines within a multidisciplinary team.

Formación

• Registration with SAPC as Pharmacist (Grade 1, no experience required after registration).
• Sound knowledge of Pharmacy Act, Medicines and Related Substances Act, PFMA, and GPP.
• Understanding of STGs and Essential Drug List.
• Knowledge of hospital pharmacy services, procurement, and inventory systems.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure within a multidisciplinary team.
• Computer literacy and pharmacy software knowledge.

Responsabilidades

• Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in line with legal requirements and departmental standards.
• Dispense and issue medicines accurately and counsel patients and staff.
• Participate in clinical ward rounds, PTC, and Antimicrobial Stewardship activities.
• Manage stock levels to ensure availability of essential medicines.
• Supervise and mentor interns, graduates, and assistants.
• Contribute to training, quality assurance, and medicine use evaluation.
• Uphold GPP and maintain high ethical and professional standards.
