Overview

A vacancy exists for a Hospital Manager, based at Kirkwood Care Centre, reporting to Life Nkanyisa National Operations Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting the needs of internal and external customers through the execution of the LHC and hospital strategic and operational objectives in growth, quality & people by leading, managing, and coordinating all hospital activities.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring effective quality systems management by implementing and improving quality standardized metrics; identifying problems using root cause analysis and implementing remedial action.
  • Ensuring effective hospital operations management by implementing and developing best operating practices and strategic business plans to optimize hospital operations.
  • Ensuring effective people management by sponsoring initiatives, demonstrating leadership to improve productivity and support change; leading hospital feedback meetings; developing a resourcing plan to recruit talented staff; providing direction and inspiring positive work behavior; developing and managing training plans; managing performance ratings; ensuring appropriate transactional processes for compensation and benefits; maintaining productive IR relationships; conducting exit interviews to retain critical staff.
  • Ensuring effective relationship management with doctors and relevant stakeholders by developing retention strategies and attracting doctors.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of marketing strategy (including growth) by developing competitor insights and positioning projects in local communities.
  • Ensuring achievement of the hospital’s financial targets by preparing and monitoring annual budgets, planning Capex projects, identifying and developing new business opportunities, maximizing revenue, and managing costs.
  • Ensuring governance and risk management by preparing annual risk assessments and progress reviews to achieve sound business ethics and risk management.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Business/Financial Management qualification and/or Clinical degree
  • 5 years of managerial experience
  • Proven leadership and general business management experience (business planning processes) within a healthcare environment
  • Experience in financial and performance management and understanding of operational budgets and performance monitoring
  • Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and relevant legislation
  • Computer proficiency
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel
