Job description

A private healthcare company is looking for a Hospital Manager to join their team in Johannesburg to establish and manage a world-class hospital.

This role is accountable for the implementation, management, and monitoring of hospital operations for the group, ensuring quality patient care and effective management.

The incumbent manages a team of specialists, with the scope spanning across the hospital and interfacing with the head office.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Healthcare
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA) is an advantage
Experience:
  • 5-7 years in hospital or hospitality management
  • 3 years in people management
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead strategic direction setting and planning for the non-acute hospital area in alignment with the company's vision and mission.
  2. Develop standards for the non-acute hospital based on global and local best practices to achieve operational excellence and quality.
  3. Set goals and standards to support business plans.
  4. Plan and utilize available skills and equipment for maximum effectiveness and productivity.
  5. Support and guide relevant workstreams (e.g., Nursing, Patient Experience) to achieve operational success.
  6. Drive continuous improvement and manage operational risks.
  7. Maintain quality patient care standards through qualified and registered professionals.
  8. Manage communication, service providers, projects, budgets, resourcing, and change management related to non-acute hospital operations.
  9. Implement operational activities aimed at delivering excellent patient experience, outcomes, and cost efficiency.
  10. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  11. Streamline hospital operations and foster collaboration among healthcare professionals.
  12. Adopt a strategic approach to the hospital's value chain to ensure optimal integration within the operating context.
  13. Support group initiatives to strengthen funder relations and work towards service provider status.
  14. Collaborate with senior executives in recruitment and strategic planning.
  15. Manage hospital marketing and patient experience strategies.
  16. Lead and manage disciplines within the portfolio, co-creating functional strategies.
