Qualifications

• 5-10 years relevant experience in healthcare contracting or strategic sourcing.
• Deep understanding of the South African healthcare landscape.
• Experience with Managed Care and Discovery Health products is advantageous.

Job description

• Develop and execute Discovery Healths hospital contracting strategy
• Lead negotiations with hospitals and service providers at executive level
• Design hospital networks to optimize cost and care quality
• Drive sustainable tariff negotiations and contracting efficiencies
• Manage hospital-related scheme spend (~R28bn annually)
• Oversee contract implementation, stakeholder compliance, and SLA enforcement
• Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, finance, clinical, and operational teams
• Maintain regulatory awareness and ensure stakeholder alignment
• Innovate and improve contracting models using data and analytics

Required Qualifications & Experience :

• Honours Degree in Clinical or Commercial discipline (Masters preferred)
• 510 years relevant experience in healthcare contracting or strategic sourcing
• Senior stakeholder engagement and leadership exposure
• Deep understanding of the South African healthcare landscape
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
• Proficient in presentation, communication, and stakeholder influence
• Experience with Managed Care and Discovery Health products is advantageous
