About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and skilled Horticulturalist & Greenhouse Manager for their advanced horticultural facility in **East London, Eastern Cape, ZA**. This role is responsible for the cultivation, care, and management of a diverse range of plants within controlled greenhouse environments. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of horticultural practices, plant physiology, pest and disease management, and greenhouse operations. You will oversee daily operations, manage greenhouse climate control systems, ensure optimal plant health and growth, and lead a small team of horticultural technicians. This is a hands-on, on-site position requiring dedication to producing high-quality horticultural products and maintaining state-of-the-art facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of plant cultivation, propagation, and care within greenhouse facilities.
• Manage greenhouse environmental controls, including temperature, humidity, light, and irrigation systems, to optimize plant growth.
• Implement integrated pest and disease management strategies to maintain plant health and prevent outbreaks.
• Monitor plant growth and development, making adjustments to care routines as needed.
• Select and source appropriate plant materials, ensuring quality and suitability for greenhouse conditions.
• Lead, train, and supervise horticultural technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
• Maintain detailed records of planting schedules, crop yields, treatments, and environmental data.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of greenhouse facilities and equipment.
• Research and implement new horticultural techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and product quality.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices within the greenhouse environment.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Botany, Plant Science, or a related field.
