A leading scientific analysis firm located in Strand is seeking a recent graduate to join their Maturity Laboratory. The role involves conducting physical and chemical analyses to assess fruit quality and monitor maturity for optimal picking. Ideal candidates will hold a qualification in Horticulture and be fluent in Afrikaans. This position offers hands-on experience in a dynamic lab environment, with opportunities for seasonal work in pesticide analysis.
The Maturity Laboratory conducts fruit quality related testing by means of physical and chemical analysis, including Fruit Size by Cranston Gauge, Fruit Weight, Fruit Firmness by Penetrometer, Total Soluble Solids by Refractometer, Total Acid by Titration, and pH. The analyst will monitor fruit maturity to advise producers on accurate picking windows and storability. The graduate will be working in the Maturity Laboratory during the season and the pesticide laboratory during the off season.
Key Requirements: The ideal candidate should be a recent graduate with a qualification in Horticulture or similar. Applicants should be able to communicate in and understand Afrikaans.
