Location : This role is based in Thabazimbi

Job Description

To provide a service that will ensure 100% winder operation to maximize profits and labour usage whilst ensuring the safety of the personnel utilizing the winder.

Operations

  • Overseeing the maintenance of all machinery in the winder room as far as electricals and mechanicals are concerned
  • Carries out electronic repairs, including but not restricted to P.C. boards electronic con units and interface cards
  • Extensive knowledge of high tensiton, basic electronically low tension control circuits, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and advise as to the solution of problems
  • Understand and be literate on all schematics and diagrams pertaining to winders and their various design requirements
  • New installations and improving old installations
  • Performs standby duties to ensure maximum up-time of the winder
  • Ensures no unauthorized modifications are carried out without the necessary permission

Administration

  • Complies and completes monthly reports
  • Expediting and monitoring of group spares purchases and repairs
  • Compiling and completing safety audits on a 6 monthly basis
  • Ensures that ordering and purchasing of equipment and material is carried out to the correct specification
  • Ensures strict control on all orders and spares by keeping effective and efficient records
  • Control of RPM group spares inventory

Computer Literacy

  • Extensive knowledge of PLC and programming in Pascal and Turbo C
  • Data acquisition from analogue to data information
  • Creation of new programmes and the development of new systems for dynamic testing, spares control etc
  • Compiling of drawings by use of autocard
  • Updating and standardization of winder electronics, electrical and hydraulic drawings
  • Control of any modifications to winder drawings

Legal requirements

  • Responsible for dynamic brake testing, its necessary adjustments and 6 monthly audits on the winder operations
  • Ensure safety quality operation for the safe usage of the winder by all personnel

Consultation

  • Assists the engineers and foremen in the setting of priorities with regards to the repairs of the winders
  • Assists the engineers, foremen electricians and fitters with maintenance problems
  • Assists and advise the W.E.D. with the control of the winders
  • Assists with installations of new equipment e.g. vacuum contractors, ECAM devices, Bell tronics, transducers, power supplies, cyclone converters etc

This role is aC5 level reporting to the Senior Hoist Technician.
