Role Overview
The Head of Trade Non-Energy Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, leading, and controlling the operations and functions of the Natural Resources Mineral commodities within South Africa. This includes Steel Making Raw Materials, Non-Ferrous concentrates and Metals, Fertilizers, and Industrial Minerals. The role aims to meet business objectives and ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate inspection activities (planning, executing, and controlling) with relevant branch supervisors and commodity coordinators.
- Manage and monitor operational performance at each location concerning quality and staffing queries.
- Assist the Regional Manager in project costing.
- Ensure adequate manpower, equipment, and tools are available for operational efficiency by coordinating with branch supervisors.
- Support the Regional Manager in managing and improving the quality management system, including certifications and accreditation processes.
- Oversee fleet management, including reviewing SGS vehicle logs monthly.
- Provide liaison and technical support to clients by coordinating with commodity coordinators.
- Assist with complaint and claim resolution.
- Support technical and sales activities, including proposal coordination with commodity coordinators.
- Attend client meetings as required.
- Adhere to SGS quality and safety standards.
- Perform quality checks on reports/certificates before issuance to clients.
- Approve reports/certificates for release.
- Conduct monthly reviews of commodity coordinators, presenting data on proposals, revenue, and client satisfaction metrics to the regional manager.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
Minimum Qualifications
- National Diploma or Degree in Quality Management, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in the relevant sector or within the company, demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge, recognized through Recognition of Prior Learning.
Languages
Proficiency in English (Reading, Speaking, Writing) is required.
