Job summary

East London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Highways Inspector for East London to monitor utility and contractor works in line with NRSWA, permit conditions, traffic management and local highway standards.

Role involves inspecting roads and pavements, enforcing compliance, handling complaints, and coordinating with utilities and the public. Must hold NRSWA supervisor accreditation and Lantra 12D, plus a full UK driving licence and willingness to work outdoors.

Qualifications

• Has prior highways/streetworks inspection experience.
• Holds NRSWA Street Works Supervisor accreditation.
• Lantra Sector 12D certification.
• Knowledge of NRSWA, permit schemes, and highway regulations.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Inspect road, pavement and street works and assess reinstatements.

• Investigate complaints relating to roadworks and highway occupation.
• Support TTROs, Temporary Traffic Notices, road closures, events and filming.

The Role
