Highway Maintenance Specialist - Hanging Lake Tunnel (Glenwood Springs - CDL Required)

Join us as a Highway Maintenance Specialist at the Colorado Department of Transportation. This position is open to both residents and non-residents of Colorado and will be filled as applications are received—early application is advised. If you hold a Colorado Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and are passionate about safety, travel, and hands-on repair, consider this career opportunity.

The role involves maintaining and repairing highway infrastructure at the Hanging Lake Tunnel near Glenwood Springs, CO. The total annual compensation is $58,000, including a base pay of $52,000, and a $6,000 housing stipend.

The base pay is approximately $2,000 biweekly, with 26 pay periods annually.

The position also offers a monthly housing stipend of $500.

Job Responsibilities

  • Your daily activities will vary based on weather, project needs, and road conditions.
  • Responsibilities include snow plowing, operating heavy equipment like dump trucks, loaders, and tractors, mowing and debris removal, maintaining infrastructure such as guardrails, signs, and lighting, road repairs including potholes and cracks, traffic control and emergency response, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
