Job summary

Lyceum College seeks a Legal, Governance, and Compliance Specialist to provide operational/legal support across regulatory, governance and employment-law functions. The role ensures policies align with higher education regulation and institutional standards.

The incumbent will manage labour relations, advise on HR policy, contribute to governance frameworks, and support accreditation and regulatory reporting with a high degree of integrity and professional judgment.

Qualifications

• Admission as an attorney or advocate, or equivalent compliance recognition.
• At least 3 years in a legal, regulatory, labour law or compliance role.
• Familiarity with SA higher education regulatory frameworks (DHET, CHE, SAQA).
• Strong background in policy development, labour law, compliance monitoring and governance.
• Knowledge of Labour Relations Act and BCEA.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance and Governance Support – monitor and implement regulatory frameworks and governance structures.
• Legal Support, Policy Development – draft and update policies, SOPs, contracts and MOUs.
• Labour Relations and Employment Law Support – advise on disciplinary processes, hearings, and mediation.
• Support to the Office of the CAO and Academic Teams – provide regulatory guidance and coordination.
• Engagement with Regulatory Bodies and Reporting – assist in accreditation, audits and regulatory submissions.
