The purpose of this role is: The Assistant Principal drives high school scholar achievement, fosters a positive scholar and staff culture, ensures operational efficiency, and promotes an engaged school community through excellent management, coaching, and leadership.

Responsibilities
- Drive Academic Excellence and Scholar Achievement: Lead the implementation of a high-quality instructional program aligned with the National Senior Certificate (NSC) requirements. Use assessment data to monitor progress, identify gaps, and implement interventions. Teach Life Science classes and collaborate to develop engaging learning experiences.
- Oversee Data-Driven Instruction: Ensure consistent use of assessments to inform instruction, analyze performance data, and develop personalized learning plans for at-risk scholars.
- Support Matric Readiness and Exam Preparation: Lead efforts for NSC exam prep, including mock exams, study sessions, and academic support for Grade 12 scholars.
- Coach Teachers to Excellence: Develop and execute coaching and professional development plans, conduct classroom observations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop a Strong School Academic Culture: Promote academic rigor, responsibility, and character development aligned with SPARK core values. Collaborate with leadership to support holistic scholar development.
- Monitor and Improve Academic Interventions: Develop and oversee individualized academic plans, monitor their effectiveness, and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Ensure Effective Use of Blended Learning Models: Oversee integration of technology in learning, evaluate tools, and train teachers for optimal use.
- Support Scholar Responsibility and Self-Regulated Learning: Encourage autonomous learning, goal setting, and self-assessment among scholars.
- Ensure Compliance with Educational Standards and Policies: Align academic programs with Department of Basic Education and Umalusi standards, ensuring proper documentation and assessments.
Qualifications and Criteria
- Fluency in English
- Completed B.Ed or PGCE degree (SP & FET), majoring in Life Sciences
- Familiarity with high school Matric requirements, including Senior and FET phase curricula, with specialization in Sciences
- SACE registration
- Clean criminal record
- At least 3-4 years of excellent classroom instruction in intermediate, senior, or FET phase
- Leadership experience in primary or high school
